As an event and portrait photographer I have always felt excited by the idea and challenge of doing architectural and real estate photography. It’s always been pretty easy for me to find soul in a picture with real living beings as the subject. How do you do that with inanimate objects?
I decided to take on this new endeavor after I was approached to take some shots for Arterberry Cooke, an architectural firm here in Los Angeles and in Austin, TX. I studied other architectural shots that I liked and worked on some test shots, incorporating the styles I admired into my own taste. What I discovered is that those rooms, buildings, and inanimate objects actually do have a soul and it can be captured.
I thoroughly enjoy doing this style of photography. It has helped me grow as a photographer and has informed my other photography work as well.
